20 Years Anniversary DJ Mix Part #1

This March 2015 I’m celebrating 20 years since I played my first gig !  It’s been an interesting journey I have to say with lots of ups and downs along the way. Due to the wide variety of gigs I’ve played over the years and the changing trends in dance music I figured it would be impossible to try and represent it all in one mix. I decided I’d release three different mixes over 2015 to celebrate being in this crazy game for 20 years, one in March, one in October and one in December all containing tracks spanning 1995 – 2015 that really worked for me over the years.

So without further ado here is part #1

The full track listing is included.

Here is to another 20 years ! Cheers ;-D

Duck Sauce – BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix

Image

Along with my own productions, remixes, mashups and other bits and pieces up on here whenever I come across a good mix on the interwebs that I recommend checking out I also post it em here. ‘Duck Sauce’ are the formidable combination of DJ/Producer Armand Van Helden and DJ/Producer A-Trak. The duo hit the public spotlight a few years back with club smash ‘Barbra Streisand’ – taking a ‘Boney M’ sample from ‘Gotto Go Home’ and twisting and turning into a dancefloor favourite. Following on with a somewhat different sound on ‘Big Bad Wolf’ and most recently ‘It’s You’ (which is a return to disco house) the duo keep coming up with fresh sounds.

Here they go in the mix for two hours for BBC Radio 1’s ‘Essential Mix’ – speaking about the mix:

”In the first hour of our Essential Mix we decided to share a bunch of unreleased demo’s; songs we tried shopping to George Michaels, Celine Dion, and Billy Joel but that were all declined. In the second hour we made a mix of songs that inspired us over the years and up to the present. A lot of the music in this mix comes from our secret crates and was bought on the black market. This mix takes you into the wacky world of duck mountain and will give you a glimpse of our upcoming album ‘Quack’ ”.  ~ Duck Sauce

This mix is one hell of a party…turn it up loud !

Knife Party live at Ultra Music Festival 2013

Of all the EDM producers that are around right now ‘Knife Party’ are in my opinion the most exciting in terms of their production and DJ sets. The group comprises two members of the band ‘Pendulum’ – Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen and their output which so far has comprised remixes, production credits, some unreleased tracks and two EPs has very quickly gained them a huge following.

Their upcoming E.P. has now officially been named as the ‘Haunted House E.P.’ and is slated for release mid April. Anticipation for its release has been massive across the EDM scene both by DJs & dance fans alike due to sneak previews of the new tracks appearing in their various sets over the last few months.  I got my hands on early copy of the track ‘Power Glove’ and exclusively aired it in Ireland on Spin South West F.M. and also on my show ‘The Temple’ on XLR-Radio, its also now a staple track in all my DJ sets.

‘Knife Party’ recently played at the ‘Ultra Music Festival’ in Miami and many have commented online that their set stole the show.  No doubt, its a rocking set and the lads are not afraid to include a bunch of their remixes and tracks in their one hour set, so if you are a fan you are in for a treat as over on their official YouTube channel knifepartyinc they have just posted up the set now in full HD.

Enjoy !
