DJ’s Short Movie by Ray Fennelly

Here is a link to DJ’s the short movie which was written and directed by Ray Fennelly. Currently the movie is doing a run of the film festivals and getting a great response. I was happy to work on the soundtrack to this movie, with the song featured here ‘Mimi’s Song’ being the central theme song to the movie. Also in terms of this movie I did on location sound and supplied the editing rig for the final production. The movie was shot over 3 days during a very cold February in 2010 but it was good fun to work on. The subject matter of the short movie is something I’m very familiar with…the DJ lifestyle 🙂

Fintan Moloney presents – ‘Introducing…Heartbreak Blake’

I’ve just released my newest album which introduces my newest alter-ego ‘Heartbreak Blake’.  With this album I went across the board in Fidget / Glitch House with a little Hip Hop & Dubstep in there also.  Plenty of club bangers in there and as its Creative Commons Licensed feel free to edit, remix, mashup or do whatever you please with it 😀

The 11 track album ‘Introducing…Heartbreak Blake’ with album art in full 320kbps sound quality can be downloaded for free from here or streamed below:

Year of release – 2008

After a few years break from audio production due to a busy schedule on different film projects I came back around full circle with a disco house track very reminiscent of the early tracks.

This track was inspired by and is dedicated to the best club that ever existed, ‘Studio 54’ in New York.  After a trip to Las Vegas to the ‘remake’ of the original Studio 54 I decided to do a track dedicated to the ‘real’ Studio 54.

This track went on to feature in the party scene from the short movie ‘Details’ which was directed by Ray Fennelly.

Year of release – 2001

Continuing my adventures in Drum N’ Bass next in 2001 I kept with the theme of sampling from movie soundtracks.  This track samples the theme tune from the movie ‘Escape From New York’ which was composed by another favorite composer of mine, John Carpenter.

Not only is John Carpenter a fantastic director but he also composes the movie scores for his own movies.  I was always a big fan of this movie and the soundtrack so the themet tune was sampled here and mixed in with some beats and bass.

Year of release – 2001

Moving into 2001 one of the first tracks I released was a change of pace music wise. I had been very impressed by legendary House DJ/Producer Todd Terry’s recent foray into Drum N’Bass and decided to dabble in that area.  The result of this was ‘Cause I Told Ya’.

Later that year due to the enormous success of the ‘Scream’ trilogy of movies (and due to being such a fan of the movies and of Marco Beltrami’s soundtracks) I decided to sample the theme tune and remix ‘Cause I Told Ya’ with the result being ‘Cause I Told Ya Scream’ 😀

Year of release – 2000

While the year 2000 was a busy year of production for Disco House, Funky House etc. there were also a few diversions into other styles.  I played around with a some more down tempo tracks around this time and the result of that are these two.  I have grouped them together here as there are a little out of the way to my usual styles over the years.  Must have been something in the air or the water or something like that if you get my drift 😉

Year of release – 2000

If had to pick a favorite out of all my past productions over the years this is probably it. A bit of everything went into this track !

The disco loop came from a record I picked up for 50 cent in a local market.  The scratching was sampled from an evening messing around on a new Technics SL-1210 I had  just picked up.  The beats were heavily influenced by Armand Van Helden who I believe had just released ‘Koochy’ at the time which I thought was ground breaking at the time.

In other words lots of background to this one.  I think that is the reason why its one of my favorites plus I still think it stands up well today, despite it being 11 years later 🙂
